Columbia College Chicago is a private, four-year college located in downtown Chicago and nationally recognized for its focus on arts, media, communications and creative industries. According to the college’s website, Columbia enrolls approximately 4,200 undergraduate and graduate students from across the country and around the world.With more than 40 undergraduate majors ranging from film and television to music, performing arts, design, writing, journalism, game development and business of creative enterprises, Columbia attracts students who are passionate about turning creativity into a career.Here’s what families should know about Columbia College Chicago’s acceptance rate and admissions process.

Acceptance rate

Overall: Approximately 90%Columbia College Chicago has a high acceptance rate, reflecting its mission to provide broad access to creative education. The college uses a rolling admissions process, meaning applications are reviewed as they are received rather than after a single deadline.While the school does not publish in-state versus out-of-state acceptance rates, students are encouraged to apply early, especially for competitive programs that may fill quickly. Applying early can also improve access to scholarships and housing options.

Admission requirements

Applicants must have the following:

  • A high school diploma or GED
  • Official high school transcripts
  • Completion of college-preparatory coursework

Some majors may also require:
