ROBESON COUNTY, N.C. (WGHP) — Christopher Patterson, of Pembroke, bought a $10 scratch-off ticket on Tuesday and won a $1 million top prize, according to an NC Education Lottery news release.

Patterson bought his winning $10 Jumbo Bucks ticket from Alex’s Mini Mart on NC 72 West in Pembroke.

When Patterson arrived at lottery headquarters on Friday, he had a decision to make.

He could choose to receive his prize as an annuity of $50,000 over 20 years or a lump sum of $600,000.

He chose the lump sum of $600,000.

After required state and federal tax withholdings, he took home $432,063.
