Marc D. Beard, 78, passed away at High Point Residence in Carlinville on Friday, February 20, 2026, with his sister and brother by his side. Marc was born at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield on August 23, 1947, to Robert and Dorothy (Lee) Beard. He grew up in Havana and graduated from high school there in 1965. He worked for the United States Postal Service for 29 years, beginning his career in Springfield and ending it in Bloomington. In 2020, he made the decision to move to Carlinville to be closer to family. Marc was a person with a wide variety of interests, one being the Old West. As a member of the Old West Society, he traveled throughout the western states learning more about the lawmen, outlaws, and rustlers of that time period. Another avid interest was professional wrestling and boxing, which led him to attend a number of important matches over the years in Las Vegas. Marc loved music and had a huge collection of CDs, most of which were of well-known Rock and Roll performers. He also enjoyed watching college basketball, as well as professional baseball and football games. He is survived by his sister, Chris Powell, of Carlinville, brother, Rex (Gail) Beard of Decatur, niece, Bond (Drew) Wyman, nephew, Ryan (Sheila Magill) Beard, great-nephews, Xander yman, Asher Wyman, Robert Magill-Beard, and great-niece, Aria Wyman, along with beloved cousins. Preceding him in death are his parents, grandparents, Henry and Jessie Lee, brother-in-law, John Powell, niece, Brooke Powell, and cousins, Steve Adams and Sid Van Etten. Services will be held Friday, February 27 in Havana at Hurley’s Funeral Home. Visitation will begin at noon with the service starting at 1:00. Rex Beard will be officiating. Following the service, burial will take place in Laurel Hill Cemetery.
