The National Weather Service has issued a flood warning along the DuPage River in Will County, most notably near the east branch in Bolingbrook and in the Shorewood area
The warning is in place until 9 p.m. Sunday
Forecasters are watching the area of the DuPage River from Illinois Route 59 in Plainfield downstream to the confluence with the Des Plaines River in Shorewood.
The DuPage River is expected to rise above flood stage Saturday night and crest at just above 16 feet by Sunday morning, the weather service said. Flood stage is 15.5 feet.
Between 2 and 4 inches of rain have fallen locally as of Saturday evening, the weather service said.

Residents need to be aware of rapid-onset flooding of creeks, streams, drainage ditches, streets, underpasses, low-lying areas and other poor drainage areas.
Some locations that will experience flash flooding include Joliet, Naperville, Bolingbrook, Romeoville, Plainfield, Oswego, Lockport, Yorkville, Minooka, Crest Hill, Montgomery, Shorewood, Boulder Hill, Fairmont, Rockdale, and Crystal Lawns.
