On Tuesday, July 29 the Cleve Carney Museum of Art, McAninch Arts Center and College of DuPage hosted a special event for local elected officials to experience the current “Hokusai & Ukiyo-e: The Floating World” exhibition.
The event began with a breakfast buffet and networking followed by a program featuring comments by College of DuPage President Muddasir Siddiqui and board chair Christine Fenne; DuPage County Board Chair Deb Conroy; Diana Martinez, executive director of the McAninch Arts Center; and Justin Witte, curator at the Cleve Carney Museum of Art. Also speaking was Honorable Masashi Mizobuchi, Consul General of Japan.
A tour of the exhibition completed the event.

More than a wave, “Hokusai & Ukiyo-e: The Floating World” features more than 60 pieces from the Chiossone Collection never-before seen in the U.S. plus interactive experiences including an immersive manga and anime exhibit, samurai and silk selfie station, kids area, DIY digital ukiyo-e art, and more.
Lectures and workshops, social events, festivals and films, and free programs add to this summer’s must-see experience running through Sept. 21.
