Benny’s Cafeteria will be hosting a food drive to support the Benedictine University campus food pantry as part of Spiceful Week, where they celebrate World Food Day.

Spiceful Week, coinciding with World Food Day on October 16, celebrates global food cultures and raises awareness about hunger and sustainability. Benny’s food drive is a meaningful way to engage the campus community in this mission, fostering a spirit of generosity and solidarity.

“Our mission is to give back to the Benedictine community in a meaningful way,” said Catherine Carney, Benny’s marketing intern. “Food has an awesome power to bring people together—we see that every day at Benny’s.”

A collection box will be located just inside Benny’s entrance for students, faculty, and staff to drop off donations during the event. All proceeds from the food drive will directly benefit the campus food pantry to help students in need.

“We recognize that not everyone has access to that joy [of food],” said Carney. “Through this food drive, we’re working to ensure that every member of our community can experience the connection and nourishment that food provides!”

Located at Benny’s Cafeteria in the Krasa Student Center, the food drive will be ongoing from October 16 to October 24.
