Police officers from the Wood Dale Police Department, and firefighters and paramedics from Wood Dale Fire District responded about 2:00 p.m. Monday, October 27, 2025 to report of a person down in area of Addison Road and Charmille Lane in Wood Dale, according to the Wood Dale Police Department. Police officers were first on the scene, and located an unresponsive person that they determined to be a deceased female with a stab wound in the front yard of a residence in the block of 300 Gilbert Drive in Wood Dale. While securing the scene, police officers entered a single-family home and located a deceased male, also with an apparent stab wound.
Based on preliminary information, investigators believe this incident was domestic in nature, involving a murder-suicide. The victims have been identified as 74-year-old Angela Defrenza and her son, 48-year-old Domenico Defrenza.
The DuPage County Metropolitan Emergency Response and Investigation Team (MERIT), the DuPage County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the DuPage County Coroner’s Office are assisting the Wood Dale Police Department with the ongoing investigation.
