This morning in a Will County Court Room, 72-year-old Kurt Johnson has been denied release by Judge Amy Bertani-Tomczak. The DuPage County prosecutor handling the case asked the Judge to seal court documents.
The prosecution’s complaint was very graphic and included accusations of physical contact, assault with a feather and Johnson allegedly filming his victim while she was in the shower with a cellphone and a hidden camera. The complaint also said Johnson took pictures of the victim’s friends on multiple occasions. The victim is now 13-years old but the alleged abuse may have started as early as when she was 9 years old.
The complaint stated that the victim’s mother and father became suspicious and questioned their daughter after seeing her comments on social media in response to a video about sexual abuse. They then called authorities.
The retired City of Joliet employee’s next court date is August 19th. Johnson is being represented by Jordan Kielian who argued that Johnson should be released based on the fact that he voluntarily moved out of his home and has had no contact with the family. He also said his client voluntarily surrendered upon request
