The first case of West Nile virus this year is in DuPage County. The county Health Department announced today that a pool of mosquitoes tested positive for the virus. The insects were discovered on May 12th in Roselle, Glendale Heights, and Wheaton. This year, there have been no reported human cases of West Nile in DuPage County to date. However, the identification of positive mosquito pools is associated with an increased risk of the virus in people. Health officials urge residents to take precaution to protect themselves from mosquito bites and the risk of contracting West Nile.
