Mount Prospect Resident In Need Of Kidney Transplant

Castil

For about 20 years, Edlyn Castil has been a familiar face serving the Prospect Heights community.

Now, she hopes that familiarity will result in someone coming forward to help her with a kidney transplant.

Castil, a Mount Prospect resident, previously served for five years as deputy city clerk for the city of Prospect Heights. For over a decade, she has continued her service with the Prospect Heights Park District, where she currently works as marketing and communications manager.

In the past, she has served as a volunteer for the Prospect Heights/Wheeling Youth Football & Cheerleading Association and is currently a volunteer for the Rotary Club of River Cities, which serves Mount Prospect, Des Plaines and Prospect Heights. Her daughter attended St. Alphonsus School, School Dist. 23 schools and Hersey High School.

Many believe her dedication and positive spirit have touched countless residents, coworkers, and local organizations.

Today, Castil is facing a serious health challenge: she is in need of a kidney transplant. After years of managing chronic kidney disease, she now undergoes regular dialysis treatments while waiting for a suitable donor. Despite this demanding routine, she continues to stay optimistic and grateful for the support around her.

“Prospect Heights has always been a supportive and caring community,” she shared. “I’m so thankful for the people around me — my family, friends, and coworkers — who have been with me through every step of this process.”

Individuals interested in learning more about living kidney donation or how to help Castil are encouraged to contact the transplant team at Loyola University Medical Center for information and a confidential screening for anyone interested in becoming a donor.
