Illinois Wesleyan University will host the NCAA Division III Women’s Volleyball Regional at the Shirk Center from November 20 to 22. This marks the first time since 2017, and only the second time in program history, that Illinois Wesleyan has hosted this event.
The NCAA announced on November 17 that Illinois Wesleyan’s women’s volleyball team, ranked third nationally, will face Asbury University in the opening round. The match is scheduled for Thursday, November 20 at 7 p.m. The regional includes eight teams: Illinois Wesleyan University (IWU), Asbury University, University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Calvin University, Coe College, Hanover College, University of Northwestern-St. Paul, and St. Olaf College. The first match of the regional between UW-Whitewater and Coe College will begin at 11:30 a.m.
Illinois Wesleyan earned its place in the tournament as champions of both the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) regular season and tournament. The Titans won their second consecutive CCIW tournament title by defeating Wheaton College and Carthage College, securing an automatic bid to the national tournament.
The winner of this regional will move on to compete in the NCAA Division III National Championship at the Shirk Center from December 3 to 6. Details about ticket sales are expected to be released later this week.
