Skippings
A man that reportedly hid from Palatine police following a domestic disturbance call Thursday (Nov. 20) is facing weapons and other charges.
According to police, at approximately 4:30 p.m. officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of N. Geneva Drive for a domestic disturbance. Officers spoke with individuals on scene and gathered information about the incident.
Officers were advised that the suspect, 39-year-old Dewayne A. Skippings, of the 1300 block of N. Geneva Lane in Palatine, was hiding in the area. Additional officers responded to assist in the search and Skippings was located a short time later.
Police said Skippings attempted to flee on foot, but was taken into custody by Palatine police officers. Officers also recovered Skippings’ backpack, which reportedly contained a loaded .45-caliber handgun with ammunition, cannabis and drug-packaging materials.
He was subsequently charged with possession of a firearm by a repeat felony offender, obstructing a peace officer, and possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
The following day, he was ordered to remain in Cook County Jail until his next court appearance in Rolling Meadows at 9 a.m. Dec. 11.
