ISU Swimming and Diving loses second straight to UIC | Sports | videtteonline.com

CHICAGO — Illinois State swimming and diving lost 221-78 to UIC on Friday in Flames Natatorium.

The future looks bright for the Redbirds, with freshman Ava Ostendorf having two event wins.

Ostendorf took first-place finishes in the 100 and 200 breaststroke with times of 1:06.82 and 2:26.24. The 100 breaststroke time marks a season-best for Ostendorf and continues a stellar debut season.

The Flames won the other 14 events on their way to a dominant win.

Outside of Ostendorf, the Redbirds only found top-three finishes.

Chloe Tyler landed second in the 100 backstroke with a time of 57.96.

The Redbirds’ other top two finishes came in the 400 medley relay and 200 free relay.

Emma Thompson picked up the only win for the dive team with a 237.53 in the 1-meter dive.
