Flag Football Recap: Friday's Win Is Loyola Academy's 11th in Last 12 Outings

Loyola Academy put their dominant defense on display in the team’s fourth consecutive shutout on Friday. Their defense stepped up to hand the Regina Dominican Panthers an 18-0 shutout. The final result isn’t all that surprising considering the Ramblers’ considerable advantage in MaxPreps’ Illinois flag football rankings (they are ranked 20th, while the Panthers are ranked 147th).

Loyola Academy has been performing incredibly well recently as they’ve won 11 of their last 12 contests. That’s provided a nice bump to their 14-4 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.8 points on average over those games. As for Regina Dominican, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-8.

Coming up, Loyola Academy will venture away from home to take on Fenwick at 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few points on average (the Ramblers 7.4, the Friars 8.8) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Regina Dominican, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next game, a 35-6 victory against Walther Christian Academy on the 27th.
