MACOMB, Illinois (Western Courier) — Western Illinois University will send two veterans from the Macomb area to the Ohio Valley Conference basketball tournament in early March.

The traveling expenses will be covered by all the proceeds from the “Hot Cakes for Hero” campaign.

The second annual fundraising event, hosted by Western Illinois Student Athlete Advisory Council, will be held from 9 to 11 a.m. in the east end of Western Hall on Feb. 15.

Fans can enjoy pancakes prior to the basketball doubleheader competitions between WIU and Morehead State University. A $10 ticket is good for both games and the pancake breakfast, or $5 for just breakfast. The women’s game is slotted for 11 a.m. with the men’s game following at 1:30 p.m. The OVC basketball tournament will be in Evansville, Indiana from March 5-8.

Tickets can be preordered online at https://leathernecktickets.universitytickets.com/w/event.aspx?id=1597
